ExtendDirectLimit <optional limit> (Software level = 4.1+)
This command allows the number of directory entries that can be added to the configuration to be controlled. By default Manager imposes a limit of 1000 directory entries. If this command is used without specifying an optional limit, the limit set is determined by the type of IP Office control unit; refer to the table below. Note that specifying or allowing a large directory limit may affect the performance of applications that use and display the directory, for example IP Office Phone Manager.
• Warning
Specifying a large directory limit may affect the performance of applications that use and display the directory, for example IP Office Phone Manager, SoftConsole and phones with access to the directory. It may also delay the inward routing of calls as the IP Office attempts to match ICLID's received to names using the directory entries.
There was a version where you needed the ldap source code instead of the normal extended sourcecode

There were several issues with large directories...
On one version the ExtendDirectLimit and ExtendLDAPDirectLimit source numbers had their meanings reversed...
Even up to early versions of 4.2 there was a issue with very large directories (i have a customer with 6200 entries!). Every time a merge was requested the switch would do a full reboot...
We had a Private Build done for this customer 4.2(119608) which cured this problem. (and had to be used in conjunction with Manager 6.2(119608))
The IPO will now merge properly - but reboots scare the hell out of me coz they take nearly ten minutes!!!!
Allegedly, this fix is now in 4.2(14) but i have yet to test it...
If you use "ExtendDirectLimit" in 4.2.4 than add a limit to it, otherwise you won't be able to add/edit the directory numbers/names so set it to ExtendDirectLimit 9999 or 2000 if that is you max for now.

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...
