Implementing MRP: Need Help urgent!!!!

Hi I'm a new user in Macola ( just hired), I need to implement MRP for my company so that the process gets more efficient and more automated for them. They have been using macola for few years now but without using MRP (basically they do everything manually).
I dont have any experience yet in implementing MRP, can anyone suggest or help in anyways what would be a good way to start working on it.

What version of Macola?

Are you familiar with MRP in general? Perhaps from another software package?

Do you have a test company set up on your current Macola system?

Do you have a consultant or business partner that can help you?

Does your company pay for software maintenance? Do you have access to the Macola end user web portal?

The version of macola that I'm using is 4.0.0.324
I am familiar as far as functionality is concerned in MRP(used SAP ), but no experience in implementing from MRP from scratch.

I have a test company setup in my current MACOLA system

As far as consultant or business partner I dont have any except an IT guy to help out with any issues that I have.

As far as I know, my company does not pay for software maintenance and neither do I have access to Macola end user web portal.

If you are on Macola ES there is a very good chance you are paying maintenance.

If you are implementing MRP without ever having done it before and without a Macola Business Partner or an Exact Regional Office there is a very good chance you will fail.

Implementing MRP is a multiple month project and likely goes beyond the scope of what we can for you at tek-tips, but if you have specific questions, please post them.

Show this thread to your boss, maybe he/she will see the light and let you get some resources in there.

I have to agree with dgillz. If you don't get assistance with this project, your probability of a successful implementation is low.

On your own you would need to grasp all of Macola's inner processes and how they affect MRP. You don't even have access to the documentation via the portal and it does not sound as if your company is going to be willing to give you the time to learn the system from the ground up...so you should sell them on the idea of getting some guidance up front. It will be well worth the money.

I'm still in the process, I did make some progress but havent yet figured out how to make it run successfully the way it has to...It has been turned ON but just not using it right now...monitoring the results and trying to manipulate bit more fields which will make it function better...what stage are you in now ?
