We have recently installed the Intelligent Message Filter on our Exchange 2003 server. It seems to be working because the amount of spam people were getting has been seriously reduced.
The problem we have is that the Gateway is set to Archive the messages but we can't find where it is archiving them. It didn't create the UceArchive folder, (\\mailserver\C\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\UceArchive) so I did, but it still isn't placing any messages in it.
I've gone over the install and setup instructions three times and everything is set correctly.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Verify that IMF is set to Archive and not delete.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks Mark for responding.

The IMF is set to Archive. The Gateway setting is 7 and Junk Mail set to 6.

OK, and you are looking for the UCE archive folder in the VS1 folder under MailRoot right?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Yes,
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\UceArchive

SMTP Protocol for IMF is set to filter.
Authentication is off, per MS guide

Not sure how you could verify where the system thinks it should be, but here is how to change it using regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\ContentFilter
1. In Registry Editor (regedit), in the details pane, right-click ContentFilter, click New, and then click String value.
2. Type ArchiveDir for the registry key value.
3. Right-click ArchiveDir, and then click Modify.
4. In Edit String, under Value Data, enter the full directory path where you want to archive messages filtered by Intelligent Message Filter. For example, type C:\Archive.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks Mark for the suggestion. I'll try it and let you know the results.

Thanks Mark for the idea to move the UceArchive folder, but I'm still not getting any messages to the archive folder. I stopped/restarted the services as well.
We may reinstall IMF to see if it changes anything. If anyone has idea of what to do I would appreciate the help. Makes no sense to me why it appears to be working but I can't find where it is archiving the messages.

After installing IMF, did you restart the Exchange System Attendant? That is a required step.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
