I have an e-mail message that is 802 bytes, all text. When viewing the message in Outlook, it displays fine. But when opening the same message in OWA, a "page not found - 404" error is the result. If I forward the message to another mailbox from within Outlook, the recipient can also open the message in Outlook, but receives the same error from OWA.

Any ideas on what the problem might be? The message itself is nothing important, but I'm curious as this is a new server build that will be deployed in a production environment.

TIA.

any case you have iislockdown on your box?

if so there are Qnumbers around concerning this matter

Yes, IISLockDown 2.1 is installed.

I couldn't find any Q articles that matched my behavoir. There were issues about renamed folders, file not found when clicking Help, file not found when logging in, etc... but not for one message while others work, and also the message is readable under MAPI.

We just installed Exchange 2000 and we are having the exact same problem. It's not just one particular message either and we can't seem to find a pattern. But for some reason there are messages that open fine in Outlook but when I try to open that same message in OWA I get a "Page Not Found" error.

Does anyone know why that happens?
