Hello All,

I wanted to start a company newsletter to email to our Customers. The method the boss selected was via email.

However, I have been trying for some time to create an email in MS outlook that looks like a webpage...you know like all the spammers do!

Every time I try the photos appear as attachements...What am I doing wrong?

if your users receive emails in txt format, this will be useless

That possibility has been reviewed and your point is valid.

Perhaps we should intially send intstructions with the first mailing telling users how to change the settings for viewing html pages in MS outlook.

But I digress....If I can't figure the first part out i won't need to worry about telling our Customers anything!

Cheers,

Dr. Butterfingers

Dr Butter,

What if they refuse to use an email program that renders html. You can't force them to use a program just so they view your email. (I surely as hell will never use a program that renders HTML in Email.)

Your best bet is to offer a TXT only and an HTML ony email choice to those who you send emails to. Not force them to accept your email in a format they disapprove of.

Dear Mr.Wizywyg

I have it in my grand plan to take over the world. The first step in this plan requires people to recieve my emails in html format.

All those who resist will be rounded up and dealt with in a manner deserving of their disobedience.

Let this be your warning. Switch to HTML Format now or suffer the consequences later.

Resistance is futile.

What I have learned is that you develop a normal run of the mill web page, but put complete paths to all images, such as <img src=" in the code, then open the page in IE and choose the emial option from the browser.

Hello Everyone,

Well I Managed to figure it out thanks to your help. Works great in MS outlook, but I tested in a hotmail account and the pictures were still coming up as attachments...

thanks again,

Chris

Standard email construction allows you to create an HTML version of an email and send the text version as an alternate. This way, if the user chooses not to view HTML emails, they will automatically see the text version instead.

All you have to do is to enable this in the header of the email. Here is a good tutorial:
Hope this helps.

Yu still haven't answered on why anyone should accept HTML formatted email when many servers do not even accept HTML email.

What are you gonna do about PINE users?
Or those who's servers are set to reject anything html encoded?

WizyWyg,

It's clear you're very anti HTML emails, and you have every right to hold that opinion.

Stop trying to push that opinion onto others, however.

Dan
