We are trying to install a pri card in a elx cabinet running LW19 Q46.01. We have imat 6.2.17a and we can't seem to talk to our card. We did the setup for the dun connection and direct connection, however we cannot program the card. We can watch the bootup process. All seems well except we are thinking we need a newer version of the imat software. Does anyone have a link to download this software, or a file to email us? Any help would be greatly appreciated, we are cutting over thursday.
Thanks,
Dave

So, you attempting this on your own and have run into problems. I would suggest getting a Mitel vendor involved. Mitel provides all their software to Mitel trained technicians free of charge... well, mostly. There is some software assurance programs, but those ones won't affect the products you mention. Mitel OWNS the software and they only distribute that software to trained technicians. Mitel does this to protect their investment in the software as well as their reputation. I personly would not feel good about just providing you the software and "walking away".

As you suspect, your IMAT is most likely too old to talk to the software that would be on the PRI Card. Not only do you need a newer IMAT program, you may require newer software for the PRI card.

Ya, I know, you are cutting this week, but you really should know better.

You can't fix stupid...

But you sure can profit from it!

The DUN setup is overly complicated and the issue is more likely with your pc than IMAT.

Get yourself a Cross over cable and statically assign yourself as 192.168.1.9

Connect to the PRI card using the crossover cable and connect over ethernet to 192.168.1.1

Good Luck

We have tried to get the imat software from the supplier we ordered the card from, but that has been going on for 2 weeks. The salesman promises, but has not delivered yet.

The version of IMAT we are using does not support an ethernet connection. Only DUN as far as i can see.

Any other suggestions?

Dave

Mitel understandably gets a bit salty about people posting their intellectual property for download. Did you check the Bittorrent site in Sweden?

Ok we've got some newer imat software 7.1.0.3. We have removed all the programming and re-installed it, reconfigured the NT direct connection, re-entered the DUN entry and we still cannot seem to get it to work.
When we try to connect to remote site, it brings up the DUN entry, and that connects, but we are still offline.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

For Q46 you should be using IMAT 7.5.1.2 and PRI software of 8.2.1.5.

Are you using XP? XP does not support the direct connection method in IMAP. I guess if you can't connect via a crossover network cable, then the PRI software on the card is 8.0 or earlier. If you have access to a Win2000 machine, that may work for you.

There is a way with XP to use the serial connection and set up an IP network across it. When done you will be using an IP address of 10.0.1.1 or something like that. The process would be that you set up the network across the serial connection first, then start IMAP and use the network connection option. I don't have the specific info right now, but I can post tomorrow.

I've got IMAT 7.6 now and have installed it on my XP Pro laptop. I can now see the ethernet option, i think this will work. I will try tomorrow at site.
How can I verify what pri software if any is on the card now?

Thanks for the help,
Dave

You better be very careful, you're now playing with fire! haha.

If you have not used the IMAT software before, you can do something that will mess it all up. When you finally connect to the PRI card you need to LOAD the PRI database into the IMAT program. Once the database from the card is in the IMAT program, you can then review/change the database or check the database version. Can't remember exactly where to see the software version, but start looking around and you will find it. I wouldn't worry about the database version though. If you can connect via the ethernet option, then you have a new enough PRI software version for the 200EL.

Be very careful saving the database back to the PRI after you make changes because IMAT will ask if you want to convert the database to a newer version. DON'T convert the database!!!

Also, the default IP address of the PRI card is 192.168.1.1. If that IP doesn't work when you connect with a crossover and a static IP on your laptop, then you will need to view the boot up process with the serial cable and a Terminal emulation program. This will let you know what the IP of the card is. Just repost if you need to know what to do at that point.

Thanks paterson.
I did test the ip address of the PRI card and I was able to ping 192.168.1.1. I also watched the bootup process and verified that.

Thanks for the note on converting, we will not do that.

So I will be careful, as we are almost dangerous !

Cheers,
Dave
