I've got an app that saves images from a digital camera on a handheld and then copies the image file into a SQL database.

I've used the TEXTCOPY program on the command prompt to export the picture to a file on the C:\ drive of the server. I've tried to export both a .jpg and a .gif but neither are being recognised by any of the imaging software (IE, Paint, Image Viewer) that I try to open them with.

Can anyone who has experience of this tell me where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance.

If the app that copies the image into the SQL DB is copying the raw image file, you may just need to use an image format that the tools you mentioned don't support. *IF* that binary file is a standard image file, you might try IRFANVIEW ( as it is seems to be a bit better at detecting the image type from the file (vs. using the extension) than any of the tools you mention.
