I am having a problem with my logo not displaying some of the times that I go back into Crystal Reports to either modify, or run and print. I would say about 99% of the time the image is visible, but intermittenly it is not. When I open the subreport that retains the logo (OLE object) in edit mode, the image is not visible but I can highlight it, so I know it's still there. If I close CR and reopen, it usually resolves the issue.

I have heard through the grapevine that this is possibly due to a known memory issue in CR. Can anyone confirm that? Also, does anyone know a workaround for this. We can't have this happening, once the reports goes to production. End users will be envoking reports from a custom application and they will have the option to print to screen or to printer. I have verified that when this problem occurs, the image is not visible on the screen, nor does it print on the report.

Thanks!

Whst version of crystal? Why is the image on a subreport as opposed to the main report? How big is the image?

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

Sorry. Was away from the computer all day.

It is version Crystal XI (11), and the image is in a subreport, because the business wanted the header and footer to be generic for all reports, so that they could make changes from time-to-time to the header and footer for all reports, without actually having to go in and modify every report they have. The logo has changed in the past, and it is possible, that it will change in the future.

If the image is an OLE object that you have set to reimport upon opening, then that is probably the issue--since you say it works if you close and reopen CR.

Hi,

Yes, I do have the subreport set to reimport when opening. Am I understanding you correctly to say that this is my problem? I have it setup this way because the business requirements called for the following:

1. A standard, generic header and footer for all reports
2. The ability to modify the header and footer in the
future (i.e., update logo, remove add fields, change
layout) and have the modifications apply automatically
to all reports, without them having to manually modify
every report they have.

If the reimport when opening option is causing my issue, do you know of any other way that I can meet the requirements I am faced with?

Thanks!

I wasn't actually referring to that setting for the subreport, but to the OLE object itself, although I guess I misremembered, since I couldn't find that setting. I don't work with OLE objects myself, so am not that familiar. The CR Help file->OLE objects->dynamic might be helpful or the section on linking versus embedding OLE objects.

Thanks for the suggestion, LB. I will check the CR help file for any information that might help with this and post a solution here, if I find one.

The setting is under the subreport tab, under format subreport.
