Hello, I hope some can help me with this problem:

I've made images for print in a newspaper and the printer's comment was "ink saturation too high. stay under 240%". I asked him about it and he sent his Photoshop settings but im using PaintShop Pro 8:

Photo shop set-up numbers

_Preferences-_
Monitor- select monitor type with grey background
Gamma- 1.8
white point- 6500 K
Phosphorus- Trinitron
Ambient light- Medium

_Printing ink setup_
ink colors- SWOP coated
dot gain- 33%
gray balance- C-.95, M-1, Y-.9, k-1

_Separation setup
_separation type- GCR_
_black generation- custon-Flat to 33% then smooth increasing slope to 95%
black ink limit- 95%
total ink limit- 220%
UCA amount- 0%
Gray balance- C-40%, M-30%, Y-30% k-0%

_Color picker
_white target- C-2%, M-2%, Y-1%, K-0%
Black target- C-48%, M-39%, y-38%, K-95%

I have no clue how to match those settings in PSP8. so is there anyone here who knows how? I dont think I have to match it 100% and i just want my images not to go over the 240% limit. Thnx and have a nice day

I guess it refers to the CMYK profiles.

Webopedia said:
Short for Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black, and pronounced as separate letters. CMYK is a color model in which all colors are described as a mixture of these four process colors. CMYK is the standard color model used in offset printing for full-color documents. Because such printing uses inks of these four basic colors, it is often called four-color printing.

Try going into File->Preferences->CMYK Conversion Preferences. Don't know much about them, but i guess you can play around with the values to match those requested by your printer.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

thank you for the reply. I've tried the CMYK conversion option already and the only settings i can see that match are the black limit and the coverage limit. Ive split and recombined my images to CMYK and from CMYK. but i couldnt tell if the total saturation is within or over 240%. am i looking for a feature that PSP8 does not have?

sorry for double posting but i forgot to mention that that images are inserted in a PDF file and sent to the publisher for printing.
