Hi, I am a broadcast video programmer, and have found myself having to add a simple link and picture to a website for my boss. I have downloaded the website to a local disk, and used Golive 6.0 to add the gif and link. the preview works well in GolIve, but when I upload the files(well the whole sit they are not there ? I am sure the location is correct, and the file names ?

Can you help me please ?. Are there permissions or something I have to set ?

Sorry for such a basic question, but I could really use you rhelp

Thanks in advance

Mike

Did you upload the image too?

If you are using the site tool, did you refresh the site before you uploaded it?

Can you post the URL?

I see images.

Are there some I should not see?

Did you see broken links when you uploaded it? As if the HTML says they should be there but they are not?

If you did not, then perhaps you did not save the file after working on it. It may have looked OK locally if you just previewed it from GoLive.

I would look at it again locally with a browser too.

I see your broken image on the news page. Your code looks fine. Check to be sure you uploaded the image into the "news" folder and also that you uploaded it as Binary and not ASCII.

I still see all the images there too. What OS and browser are you guys using? I am on a MAC OSX machine using ie 5.2.1.

Thank you all for the advice.

Well I looked over it all again, and out of desperation looked at the ftp program(LeapFTP). It turns out that I was clicking 'overwrite', which did not overwrite the image. Another option was 'resume'..which I tried and the image and link sucessfully uploaded ? No idea why ?

thankyou for your help though.

Can I ask one other unrelated question please ?

How do i find the absolute path to the server. My next task is to add something called BookCMS to this site( great for a beginner I think!!)it seems simple enough, but I have to insert this path into a perl script.

Best regards

Mike
