This has me bugged, I know that my print service doesn't have the same problem. A recent proof showed me that. I have just moved to ID CS from Quark 4 so some things are different to me.

But this snall problem of disappearing images..........? Only some images, EPS files created in Illustrator 9, even if converted to TIFF in Photoshop. They do have transparency and/or clipping paths, they will print if set to proxy, but not if send All is selected, and not if simulate overprint is selected.

They are not big files........What the?

Any Ideas?

Thanx

Are your fills In illustrator set to overprint? If so and your service burea has a setting on their rip with PS overprint on, that would make things disappear. Curious aren't these guys Q.C.ing to some laser proofs that you sent?

is this on files that started life as a quark file???

in conversion quite often a couple of things happen . . .

objects get position locked . . .

and if objects are grouped with an object that has suppress printout checked all of the attibutes will be "non-printing"

fortunately its an easy fix just open your attributes window and uncheck it and you can check if they will print by using the separation preview window in InDesign.

hope this helps

I had the same problem opening a Quark 4 document in InDesign CS. Everything looked fine, but when I printed a color proof, images disappeared!

I found this thread and followed dabob's advice. I opened my attributes window, ungrouped the objects, and chose a linked file. The attributes window said it was okay?! With the linked file still chosen, I went to OBJECT>SELECT>CONTENT, which dug a little deeper into the file, and the attributes window then had non-printing checked. I had to SELECT>CONTENT each file individually to uncheck non-printing.

Thank you, debob.
