imagecreatefromjpeg fails to load URL

hello everyone.

my php server is a linux environment. i have gd2_lib installed in linux server. when i tried to access image URL's with imagecreatefromjpeg, nothing happens. imagecreatefromjpeg fails, it returns a false.

may i know what are the possible causes for this? i really don't know. pls help ... thanks a lot.

if it is a "lan connected environment" then you (or your local sysadmin) should have control over both servers. so the best answer would be for you to talk to your sysadmin.

we were the one who installed the apache web server on our server. the other one, i have no control with. sorry hor the use of term, i guess it was not called public url but an alias. it can't be accessed outside of the lan environment. im really confused with what to do. i am a newbie on this...

you need to talk to the sysadmin of the remote server. if they are both in a lan environment then you really ought to be able to contact the relevant person as they will be in the same organisation as you.

we can't help you with this - it's not a php problem. it's not even a "problem" as such - the other webmaster has taken specific steps to block you from taking the images other than via a normal page request.

this could be done at the httpd.conf level but may be done within the rewrite rules or (more likely) within a local .htaccess. For more information consult the apache forum.
