I am making a cd design and the image i have placed in illustrator looks different when i print it out as compared to when i print directly from photoshop. the printer has given me custom profiles and i even loaded those into illustrator. but it still looks different. the image is a tiff image. when i place in quark it does not do this.

When you say "different" you have to say in what way is your image different.
As we are not standing behind you at the time, we have noe idea what you are talking about.

Different colour, (is what I'm guesing your talking about).
Different highlight, shadow.
Different contrast.
Different size.

the image when printed through indesign or illustrator as a placed file looks less saturated . its very dull. i have loaded the same settings that i used for photoshop but still the same. but when i print the image directly through photoshop its fine.

When you talk about the same settings, You are talking about your ICC Colour profiles are the same from Photoshop to Illustrator to InDesign to the Printer.

You are keeping the same colour space i.e. RGB or CMYK all the way through?

Your monitor is calibrated (although probably won't matter)?

Do you have in InDesign your "Display Performance" set to High Quality.

Have you placed the images in Illustrator and Indesign as embeded or linked?

hi marcus
now that i look at my print outs again i notice that everything that i am printing through AI CS looks faded and is lacking saturation. Not just the linked image
