Imac goes off right after power on.

My IMAC powers off immediately after I turn it on. Any suggestions as how to troubleshoot this?

Start with a good old pram zap (hold down option, command, p, r all together at startup) Wait until you hear the chime 3 times, then let go. Have you added any 3rd party hardware recently?
