imac 400 dv

Our imac 400 dv refuses to start. I've checked for power/reset the switch 'internally'/changed batteries etc. Does anyone think this is a board problem? I would like to fix this machine but the economics are suspect.
It was running perfectly then last week suddenly took ages to start up, while eventually spluttering to life the screen colour appeared 'intense' yet dark. Upon attempting to restart, the machine appears to be dead; no sound/startup/noises/ zilch!etc.
Any help appreciated.

did you recently do any softare upgrades?
I have 2 400dv imacs. When I upgraded one to Jaguar I got the same symptoms. If memory serves i had to download some sort of fix from Apple. i beleive it was a video driver or something like that.
Go to apple discussion boards and have a read.

The problem is that the iMac is Totally dead; No power light-nothing!!
It worked for months since the last install of OS X.
