I'm receiving the message:
Apr 24 07:49:53 eccdb201 corrupt label - wrong magic number
Apr 24 07:49:53 eccdb201 scsi: [ID 365881 kern.info] Vendor 'EMC', product 'S
YMMETRIX', 5760 512 byte blocks

It appears on /var/adm/messages file on my unix server. This server is a Sun Enterpize E6500 running Solaris 8.

Is it a symptom of a disk problem?

Why it happen??

Was this disk part of your system before? If not, it might have belonged to an older system or something. You should label the disk using the format command.

First you need to verify if this error message is from VCMDB. If it is you need to call emc cs guy to enable the write protected VCMDB. Then label it and ask them to write protected the VCMDB again.

If not, label the disk should solved your problem.
