I'm acquiring a Nortel CICS w/7.1 software for a small market. Does it have Auto Attendant incorporated in it, or do I need Flash?
Basically want it to say: This is Slate rock Gravel, press 10 for Fred, 11 for Barney, 12 for Wilma...., and possibly ring back to AA if no answer, so caller can try another person/dept. They only have 2 roll over lines, and 4 phones. absolutely don't want voice mail either. Thanks

Neither. Was told CICS w/7.1 would give me a basic AA but was skeptical?

There is AA in the software if it is activated. If you can post the SP number we can tell you you.

Haven't received it yet, so have no numbers for you. Is this something I can activate once I receive it, or need the supplier to activate?

Look at the software card once you get the unit, if the last letter is a P (Prompts) then the internal auto attendant is active. Typically you will see SIP (Standard 8/24, IRAD, Prompts) or RIP (Restricted 4/08, IRAD, Prompts) or SP (Standard, Prompts) or RP (Restricted, Prompts). No P, no internal AA.

Just because the internal AA is active doesn't mean it will be easy to set up. Not a lot of people use it and there are a lot of gotchas when trying to set it up. If you could get your hands on a Flash 2 or CP100 that would be a much better way to go in addition to adding voicemail which the CICS' internal AA won't do.

Thanks, went with Call Pilot 100. Another question customer has is if they go with getting a Music on hold player, does CICS play music on calls being transferred from AA to the ext. or only on hold? They don't want customers hearing the ring/ring while waiting for someone to answer if possible.

You will hear ringing because it's a transferred call.

I personally want to hear ringing as I don't want to have the impression I am on hold or sitting in a call center queue when I am not.
I am guessing that 10 billion other people are with me on this.

Kidding aside when I call markets or stores I expect some time for ringing.
Have them be more diligent or have it go to voice mail on shorter rings.

I notice a cashier at Petsmart the other day was fielding calls.
