Ilustrator 10 error

When I want to edit a Acrobat file in Illustrator 10 (PC), I can make the change but when I go to save the change I get a error message "Can't save the Illustration

Is the file read only? Have you tried saving it under a different filename?

No, actually what I do in Acrobat 6 is right click on the area I want to edit and follow it down to edit image on the menu and it opens Illustrator 10, then I make the change and try go to save the temp file and it comes up with the error message or If I actually open the whole file in Illustrator 10 and edit it and try to save it. If I open the whole file in Illustrator I need to use the Distiller to keep my changes and rename the file. Everything use to work perfectly, but something has changed and I don't know what it is? I reinstalled Illustrator and it didn't help.
