I have a logo that was created in Illustrator that I need to import into a photoshop document. When I open the logo in Photoshop, it is very blurry. Do I need to save the logo in a different format in Illustrator in order to use it in my Photoshop document?

Thanks.

You ideally need to know what your final resolution will be from photoshop. Is it for web, digital or offset printing? If it is for web, try making the logo the size you need it to be in the end before placing it in PS. I find complicated logos don't reduce down well to tiny images in PS, but using unsharp mask under Filter/Sharpen might help. If this will be for offset printing, make sure your PS art is at least at 300dpi at the final size you want it to be; example - 3" x 4".

You can also "Place" an eps or AI logo into photoshop(File > Place). Doing it this way will allow you to resize the logo to an appropriate size before you apply it. The advantadge here is that the image is not rasterized until it is placed. I have found that using this method (web and print) produces extremely good results.

The logo will still be rasterized when you apply it, but you will get a much sharper line.

That said though, if you are intending to use a lay out program you should place it in that software as Kyle recommended.

Hope it helps!

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
