I have the default web site configured and virtual directories configured as sub directories of the defaul web site. They all seem to work fine, but, when I opem the MMC snap in for the IIS manager, all of the virtual sub-directories of the default web site have an icon that reads 'error' in front of them . Help!

I see this on my workstation using IIS Mgr, but not when I 'Term Serv' to the server hosting the web site. It's weird, but from my workstation, if I stop and then restart the site, the 'error' sign goes away.

Yes, difinately weird. I can't find anything that does not function correctly, nor can I find any log entries that reflect on it. One change Idid just make was to recreat my master site and creat all of the subdirectories as web extensions instead of virtual directories. As far as security goes, I thin this is the way to actually go about building an internal site with the specs that I have. Don't know if it will apply to you, but you might consider doing it. Knocks out alot of headaches with security by forming three security level groups for different levels of access(admin, author, browser).
