IIS uninstall error URGENT

hi i am having a bit of trouble instaling exchange 5.5 and i have narrowed the problem down to the IIS, and the microsoft website says to reinstall the iis from network properties and the service tab.
I go into that and select Uninstall and it says

Non critical error

Unable to open the file
C:\WINNT\System32\inetsrv\setup.exe

You may retry the operation or ignore it

So naturally i retry and the same happens again, and if i select ignore the box disappears as if it has worked but the IIS is still in the list.
When i try to then install the IIS again, using ADD it says

Microsoft Internet Information Server may be installed by another process. Please restart your Network Control Panel Applet.

Any help on this would be very helpful, i have an exchange installation to complete by xmas and this has completely held me up- which is not good!

This might sound stupid... but did you make sure you log on as local admin?
If so, I'd try doing this in safe mode first...?

Also make sure there is no IIS processes running.

hi i got it sorted it was a problem with OWA, part of exchange i was installing.
