I recently bought a pc with xp installed but need activate/install the iis server but don't have the cd

is this possible?

I think you may be be able to download IIS from the Microsoft website.
Or if you can find any Windows XP Pro Installation CD, you can install it from there. Alternatively, you can use on of the open source Web servers like Apache, instead of IIS.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Thanks vacunita, I purchase this pc with xp already installed and don't have the cd.

I'll search microsoft site for the download. Thanks
