I have win xp home edition in my computer. I copied iis.dl_ and iis.in_ files from windows 2000 CD and I installed IIS in my computer. I opened controlpanel>administrativetools>internetservicemanager>defaultwebsite>(rightclick)properties>directory security>anonymous access edit>( entered my win xp user name n password. only user name got stored).

Even after doing all these my browser says http 500 error internal server error. I tried this in MS DOS(iisreset/restart). It says iisadmin service disabled. I really dont know what it means and I would appreciate if someone can solve my problem.
Thanks

winxp home does not support IIS - you need to upgrade to winxp pro. Sorry.

Or you may try installing free WebMatrix from which comes with small web server to run asp.net pages.
ou'll need to give your classic asp pages .aspx extension and they will work just fine.
You'll be up and running in 1 minute.

Another way is to buy full OEM version of WindowsXP PRO which sells for ~ $129 (just the CD w/serial numb., no box) - search the web.
