IIS FTP GURU Needed.

Hello .. I'm currently setting up an FTP with IIS. I was having trouble preventing users to see other users folders if they go back to the root. I tried different settings but most of them didn't work. However, I somehow stumbled across something interesting.

With the following setup:

root directory = c:\inetput\ftproot

two virtual directories:
c:\asfroot\test1
c:\asfroot\test2

user1: test1
user2: test2

With this set up.. whenever i logged in as test1 or test2 i was automatically fwded to the appropriate folder.. however.. i was also able to go up one level and then see the two folders (which was something I didn't want). It seemed like there wasn't a way to hide the folder with IIS until I accidently put an additional virtual directory in:

c:\asfroot
Somehow auto-magically i was prevented to see the root of C:\asfroot\test1 & c:\asfroot\test2 whenever i tried to up one level, say from the test1 directory, on the ftp program.

Does anyone know why?

Hello!

All you need is set permissions in O/S give full control for admins and users on their folder and no access on other folders

This is default IIS behavior when being used by anything other than IE as the FTP client.

U're referring to the users being directed into their own directory once they've logged in? If so then that's not what I'm asking.

No by these settings users folder will be shown as root, user will not be able to go up one level. It was the solution to your problem let me explain a bit to u, creat a user and define default folder when you creat account, now connect user with your ftp site it will show user that he is working in the root directory (although he is in his folder located in ftproot\users-folder).
