Hi, Wondering if anyone can help.

I recently set up an intranet testing rig for one of my customers, I am fairly new to iis.

All I did was place the ASP pages into the root directory set all the correct sharing and amended the General ASP to point in the right direction for the SQL server.

It ran perfectly, I could use all the funstionality of the intranet and communicate with the database etc, etc, etc.

Then out of the blue, The Default Web Site Stopped, in the management console on the LHS 3 folders showing little red error signs. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

from what I could remenmber it said something like DNS access denied and Exchange errors???????? and on trying to run it again I get ADRESS ALREADY IN USE!

Can somebody explain to me why the default web site would stop?

I know this is a very high level description but all advise welcome...

Regards

This happens you have two sites on the server with no host headers, both are then using and port 80

I had the same problem. i think i may have selected the option for all sub-websites under the Default website to inherit all settings from the parent which may have caused that problem. I don't quite know how to undo that. What I've done now is delete all websites from IIS. I'm still however getting that problem . I'm running IIS 5 on Windows 2000 Professional, where only one IP address can be used.

It's my Ad Blocker. I'm using AdsGone 2002. Does anyone know of an ad blocker - or pop-up blocker that wouldn't block, or use port 80. i guess it ties port 80 up because it is constantly scanning it for ads servers.
