I am a complete newbie to IIS. I have to allow an external user access to IIS Manager over a VPN. I had presumed that I would instruct the user to install a client (similar to SQL Enterprise Manager) and all would be ok. However, I cannot find any such reference to such a product.

Can anyone tell me how I could achieve the same result, or tell me a better way of doing this? I was going to give the user Terminal Services access but that would give them access to the entire server... which is something I absolutely do not want to do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will need to get the MMC console with IIS Snap in to the users.

Hmm, ok, I have missed something somewhere. The guy is using XP so already has the management console so I simly gave him the iis.msc but it will not load. Keeps saying there is a fault. Does he need to install IIS on XP to get the span in to load?

He does not have to install IIS persay, but just the IIS Management snapin..

Thanks Chris,

Just found a download on microsoft.com which installs a management client.
