Could someone please explain to me why the below IF Statement will not return the word 'NULL":

If {Command.fullname} ="" then 'NULL'
else {Command.fullname}

You might be encountering an actual null that you need to test for:

If isnull({Command.fullname}) or {Command.fullname} ="" then 'NULL'
else {Command.fullname}
