Hi y'all,
I've got an ASP application which uses an ORACLE 8 database. It is run on Windows NT4 clients using ie 5.5. However, ie crashes seemingly at random. These crashes have occurred when using both an NT4 server and win2k server. My colleague has developed a similar application which experiences no such problems, nor does the problem occur when using any internet pages. Also, the error did not occur during development, it only reared it's ugly head when testing began.

The error reported looks like this:

Iexplore.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x70c3396e" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

When I debugged the error, I got the following message:

Unhandled exception in IEXPLORE.EXE (MSHTML.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation

I've tried searching the microsoft knowledge base to no avail, lots of results, but none that are relevant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you use client-side or server-side code?

Do you use the cookies much - even via the thisPage 'properties' collection?

Do you perform much Client-side JavaScript?

I do use the cookies quite a bit...through the thisPage properties. Also the pages are mostly written in server-side although I am writing a 'version 2' which will be predominantly client-side.
