Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit problem

We have used IEAK (for ie5.01 and ie5.5) in the past to create a customised browser with the LAN settings page ‘greyed out’ (from Connections Tab). However, we have now built a browser (for ie5.5sp1 plus security patches) in the same way but the LAN settings are not greyed out. On checking a machine where this trial browser has been installed, the cab and ins files can be seen in the temporary internet files folder. A Custom folder exists on the local disk with the inetres.inf file. If you install the inetres.inf file manually then the settings are greyed out (ie registry is updated). We do not know why this is not happening automatically during the installation.

Grateful for any help.

I'v never used IEAK, but you can remove the entire tab by adding this:

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
Right-click on the ControlPanel key, choose new>DWORD value, name it ConnectionsTab and give it a value of 1.

You'll need to create the additional keys under the Microsoft key if they don't already exist.
