IE7 Address Bar on Popup Windows 1

When I started using the 1E7 Beta version in 2006 it forced the Address Bar on every window - even those opened by JavaScript that specifically did not request it.

Recently (within the past month or two) my popup windows (those opened via JavaScript) on IE7 do not show the Address Bar any more, and instead display the URL address in the window caption, preceding the window title. The Address Bar is show when I open an IE7 window manually.

In my code, I had adjusted the height of all my popup windows in IE7 to compensate for the Address Bar height. Now they are too large.

Has anyone else experienced this? Perhaps there is a registry setting that somehow got corrupted? Or perhaps Microsoft backed off on the forced Address Bar display?

I would very much appreciate any insight that anyone can give me.

Thank you very much for following up!

When I originally looked at the link on your reply, I missed a key paragraph. The issue was that the

"Allow websites to open without address or status bars"

option in the Security settings for my IE7 browser was set to "Enable" (for Internet and Local Intranet). When I set it back to "Disable" (default setting) the Address bar reappeared.

The mystery is how this setting got changed. I did not explicitly change it myself. I can't only suspect that an IE7 upgrade or something similar changed it.

One thing to note is when this setting is "Enable", the URL is displayed automatically in the window title. Whatever title you might try to display for the web page is shifted far to the right.

Thanks again for your dilligence in helping me - I really appreciate it!
