Hello,

Problem:
When typing a URL in the addressbar of IE6 SP1

I have to wait minutes before getting the page.
there is no progressbar or anything. I just have to wait.
Finally the page opens.

When i select an url out of my favorites , this problem does not occures. I get the pages instantly

any ideas ?

a few questions

what version windows?
what kind of internet connection?
have you cleared temp files and cookies?
do you have "automaticly detect settings" checked?
does the same thing happen when opening a site through your history?

thanks "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

It's possible your favourites are "cached" (stored on your hard disk) which means you don't have to wait for them to download...

Try clicking on hyperlinks to pages you haven't previously visited (and so won't have been cached): does it take as long as when you type in the URL?

Hi,

I'm sure its not the connection DSL 3MBIT
Every link i click is working fast
if i use the yahoo that is in my history , and i lookup new websites , by clicking the urls on yahoo , no problem.

i only have the problem when i type in the url's manually

I cleaned cookies and page history , but still the same problem.

config: Win XP Ie6 sp1

Does anyone have a fix for this yet? I have exactly the same problem. I can get to favourites and hiperlinks very quickly but if I enter the url in the address bar there is a long delay - usually over a minute - before suddenly the network request is kicked off and the page loads really quickly. This is extremely annoying!!!
