Evening all,

I have a number of different Toolbars activated in IE6.

In addition to the standard ones I have one for RoboForm ( a password and form filler) and one for Popup Cop (A popup and script stopper)

What I have been doing is getting all the different taskbars arranged how I would like, and then rightclicking the empty space and selecting Lock Toolbars. This has the effect of making it so that I cannot accidently drag a toolbar around out of my layout.

All is fine.

EXCEPT, every now and again when I start IE6 some of the toolbars are missing.

The ones for Links, RoboForm and PopupCop are all deactivated. Its really quite annoying , especially as the popup stopper seems to stop working.

I've checked my system for viruses (virii?) and spyware but nothing was turned up.

Is this just an IE thing, or is there a way to stop this from happening?

Close any open Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

There are 3 sub keys: Explorer, ShellBrowser, WebBrowser'

In each of these sub-keys is the entry for ITBarLayout

For IE Toolbars: The WebBrowser Sub-key directly affects IE.
For Windows Explorer Toolbars: The Explorer Sub-key directly affects Explorer.
The ShellBrowser sub-key may affect IE as well. Its effect on IE and Windows Explorer is unknown at this time, so if the first option doesn't work, delete the ITBarLayout value here as well.

Choose the relavent sub-key and right click where it says ITBarLayout and select Delete.

The deleted value will automatically be recreated for you.

You may want to right click on the main key (above) and select Export. This will allow you to backup the contents of the whole key, including subkeys.

Or try this utility, which does the same thing:
Toolbars missing in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer

Hi there,

I'm afriad I have tried this to no avail. I have removed the Browser and Shell keys, rearranged my toolbars and rebooted the system (just to make sure).

However, after a variable amount of time certain toolbars are missinbg. I mainly notice it when my popup stopper toolbar is deactivated as I start seeing the popups again!

Is thre anything else I can try?
