Since installing SP1 on my Internet Explorer, I'm getting some strange text at the top of certain Web sites. In most cases, everything else seems to be working normally, but in one case, my groups.yahoo account I get the last message below, and can't get to the message itself. Any suggestions as to what I'm seeing and what I can do about eliminating the text?

--Northe

For example in this forum, I get at the top of the page:

!HTTP/1.0 200 OK Server: Microsoft-IIS/4.0 Date: Tue, 26
Nov 2002 18:31:51 GMT Content-type: text/html Page-

CFTOKEN=55731549; expires=Sun, 27-Sep-2037 00:00:00 GMT;
path=/;

On the Yahoo Mail site, I get:

!HTTP/1.0 200 OK Date: Sat, 23 Nov 2002 18:14:19 GMT P3P:

and on the groups.yahoo site, I get the following text when I try to access a message -- I can't get the message:

It seems to be a cookie issue. All 3 messages you posted have a "Set-cookie" entry, indicating that you may need to re-configure your settings.

To get full compatibility at most sites, I recommend disabling "privacy protection" for now. Go to Tools->Internet Options->Privacy, click the "advanced" button, and put a check for both options:
- Override automatic cookie handling
- Always allow session cookies

cdogg,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I changed those settings, closed out IE (just to make sure they took effect), reloaded, and am still getting the messages.

Very, very strange.

Interesting - it may very well be a problem with SP1.

Do you have a firewall? If so, have you tried disabling it, closing/reopening IE?

If that's not it, then is there an option to remove SP1 under Add/Remove Programs? I'd be very curious to see if you have the same issues after removing SP1.

cdogg,

That's it! Apparently it was my Zone Alarm firewall -- I changed _it's_ security level to "accept all cookies," and everything appears to be working OK here and with Yahoo mail and groups.

It never occured to me -- I assumed that the cookies wouldn't make it as far as being displayed on my browser screen!

A gold star for, and my thanks to, you 8')

Well he did say a gold star for you so I thought you should get the star. joegz
