WinXP Pro SP2 with IE6. I have a Belkin ADSL modem/router that is configured by entering the router address 192.168.0.1 into IE, Belkin Tech Support have tried to assist me as well, the screens used to setup/monitor the router/ADSL connection do not refresh/change at the rate at which they should, if i do this on the W2K PC on the same router all is fine, screens change/refresh, the backup/restore config shows progress graph etc... The XP PC just seems to hang and never shows the progress graph. General web surfing suffers with pages that will not display and functions that will not work, like my own web sites that use Jalbum created pictures with slideshow option that will not work, the slideshow option just stops on the next picture whereas the W2K PC will run the whole slideshow with no problem. whatever this problem is could explain why some web sites will not display at all. p.s. use and have run Spybot in an attempt to find the problem.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Try using Firefox, free:

Install it, and try to navigate to your favorite pages, and those that do not load with I.E.6SP1. If you see any change, and if you like firefox, i recommend you to stay with it, and get rid of I.E.

get this tool, CWShredder and run it, but make sure you dont have any explorer open before runing it:

Hope you get throught it.
Regards, Jazket.

Mozilla/Firefox installed, results are the belkin screens seem to refresh/change with no hangups or freezing. Web surfing is still the same, that is, one of my sites has a page of thumbnail pictures that can go into a slideshow, the thumbnail pictures do not show but the slideshow works OK in Firefox. IE6 in XP PC doesn't show the thumbnail pictures or run the slideshow. The W2K PC with IE6 will do both.
So the result is that Firefox has only partly cured my browser/ing problems, it would appear from this that my problem is withing XP itself, somehow!!!
Could not get the download of CWShredder to work, so never got to try that package. tried the download on both PC's as well.
Thanks to Jazket for the suggestion anyway, but, I won't be making Firefox my default browser yet.

Now using Firefox more and more.
but have a problem with bookmark sorting,

For an ADSL connection what you describe is an MTU issue. XP will use 1500 by default for a Broadband connection, and this is not suitable for ADSL.

. First, test what the MTU value should be

. Second, in the router's web-based setup, see if there is a setting to enter a manual value for the router MTU

. Third, adjust your client MTU value. The DrTCP tool is easy to use:
