We are using Windows XP /w SP2 and IE6. Our users connect to a proxy server in another state with one userid/password. When we set the machines up we were prompted to enter the userid/password for that proxy server and we also checked the "Remember My Password" option, so users don't have to re-enter it over and over.

How do I get this box to re-appear? I have tried setting the "User Authentication" under Security, Internet Zone, "Prompt for username and password". This doesn't work, no dialog box pops up asking for authentication. Anyone have any ideas?

Try going to IE Browser->Tools->Options->Content Tab

You will see AutoComplete. This is where the option to store passwords is. Try clearing the setting for it and see if it resolves your issue.

Enkrypted thanks for the response, this was one of the first places I tried to clear it from and it didn't work. I also tried deleting the users profile completely off the machine, which did not work, the prompt never came back.
Any more ideas are appreciated.

There is a "Manage Passwords" section obtained via typing Control Userpasswords2 in the Start Run box. In the resulting window you will get to it via the Advanced tab.

See if there is anything mentioned in "Manage Passwords"?

Another thing you can look at is this -

linney,

The first suggestion "control userpasswords2" worked great, I had never seen this before now. Thanks for the help, here's a star.
