IE
I have XP Pro-SP2 and , intermittently , IE6 , after intially accessing a web site , will "freeze" and will then give the message :- "..unable to find .." even though it has only just accessed that site . - this happens not just to Google but to many others also .

The only way I know to get the browser to navigate normally again is to re-boot .

This also happens randomly with Firefox .

I have looked at the MS Q281679 page which , although describing symptoms which do not exactly match the error I am experiencing are somewhat similar - I notice there that I do not appear to have the file "Urimon.dll" on my PC - is this a significant factor here ?

I have AVG AV and ZA Free Version Firealarm installed. Switching ZA off seems to have no effect with this.

Sounds like a worm. Download hijackthis from the link below. Extract it to desktop or prefered folder and choose do a system scan and save a logfile and post the logfile on here.

I really dont see anything wrong with your log other than this.

O2 - BHO: Unknown - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - (no file)

Check that and click fix checked.

Try disabling everything that is running except avg and see if any of that helps. If that dont help my advice is to run sfc/scannow from command prompt. Put your system disc in before doing so for it will ask for it. If you dont have a sp2 disc then follow the link below on someones computer if you need to to create one.
