Hello. I needed to upgrade to IE-6 and step up with the rest of the world.(So I thought this was a nice idea) I have a 450mhz, 128mb ram and Use Outlook Express as my mail program. Ever since I did this, the web browser gets lazy, a little slow- and just doesn't load good anymore.... The mail program gets brain dead as well. It is hard to switch from one user to the other, identities....It gets slow, sometimes locks up etc- I am not sure that IE 6 and OUTLOOK are working right......I went and tried to read everything I could off of tek sites, I think I even tried the SP1 patch etc- It just doesn't work as nice as IE 5 did etc......Can you lead me to an understanding about what is happening or what I should do? Thank you very much.

Ya, go back to 5.5
If you had read the fine print, Win98 meets the ABSOLUTE minimum requirements for IE6.. BUT, even Microsoft states the minimum recommended OS is WinME due to possible system conflicts with Win98/98SE..
Some people get lucky and all works well.. Most don't !!

Hey Murray........So, you recommended going back again to IE 5.5? So, what does that do to my OUTLOOK? Do I leave it at 6.0? Or does IE 5.5 downgrade that too? I am real dumb at the PC stuff of this nature, releases versions revisions etc etc....I am assuming that I can just DELETE IE 6.0, then delete OUTLOOK Xpress 6.0 and then reload the IE 5.5?

You are fairly vague my friend....
I am almost brave enough, or I should say fed up enough with the problems that I am having- to try it. ---> But my memory tells me that Outlook Express or Outlook- WAS NOT part of the download PRIOR to Internet Explorer 6.0....AND I am not too secure with the suggestion to remove a program and presto the old one returns? If you could tell me something that makes me feel a little better, or a little more knowledge emcaptioned into your replies, I would try it! ***Thank you though for your help. I hope that I could try this before this is all over, I will send you a little elf that will call on Santa on the night of the 24th....

Okay:
First of all, Outlook express downloads and installed when you upgraded to IE6.. Especially if your used the "typical" install option.. THAT is a given..
Secondly, when you installed the IE6 upgrade, you were given the option to keep the old 5.5 files.. If you elected this option, then the old IE AND OE5.5 files are still on your system..
Thirdly, if those files are still there AND you go as I said above, Windows removes IE6 and all of its files and then uses the saved IE5.5 files to re-install that version.. That is what happens when you use the "Revert" command..
Guess you haven't heard of "System Restore" then either have you ?? This Windows program will totally return your system to a time of your choosing (based on the Restore Points).. So, you could RESTORE your system to the EXACT configuration it was as far back as the first Restore Point !!
