I have a user who is running internet explorer 6 on an Windows XP machine. When she tries to log onto an account on a website to pay bills for the company, internet explorer just disappears. No error messages show up at all. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Old version of Yahoo Companion maybe? Checking Windows Event Viewer might yield more clues.

Verify its not the user, do you have roaming profiles? is it possible to have her log on and try from another workstation? Have you logged on to her workstation to verify that its the workstation? If its the workstation try kicking off an Internet Explorer Repair useing one of hte methods from these sites:

I have been unable to get the hotfix to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE6, updated the service pack to SP2 and I am still getting the same behavior. I have even gone as far as updated to the latest JRE thinking that this was a problem Before the app closes i recieved a pop up with this error signature:

AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 03244e52.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

First, clear the Temporary Internet Files cache. Set the cache size between 50 -- 100mb; you do not need or want it any higher.

Reboot and test.

If still no joy:
Create a new user, logon as the new user, and try the website again. What happens?
