How would I get the "cypher strength" (I assume that is what MS used to refer to as encryption) up to 128? The IE 6 upgrade set it to 56. Also IE6 seems SLO compared to 5.5.

Thank You

Hi,
If you click on Help, then About you should find a link, next to the ciper strength setting, which will take you to Microsofts site, where you can download the Upgrade.

Do not see such a link in help/about next to cipher strength.

When you click on 'Help | About Internet Explorer ' it displays the version number one the first line, the 2nd line should show the cypher strength, i.e. 56 bit or 128 bit, etc, etc,.. Right next to that still on the 2nd line it should (Update Information). That is a link and thats what you should click on.

Do you not have anything there?

Definitely do not have a link there. Went to the MSIE Download Page and after following a long and twisted path, discovered that I need to install the WIN2K high encryption pack before doing anything else.

Ahhhh Me. The more I upgrade, the more goofy things seem to become.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Description
Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest updates and security fixes to the Internet Explorer technology. Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 can be installed as an upgrade to existing versions of Internet Explorer, or on computers with no previous Internet Explorer installation.

Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 and Internet Tools makes it easier than ever to connect to the Internet and find the information you need. Internet Explorer Setup for Windows 2000 does not allow you to customize the installation or use any advanced options in the Setup program. This behavior occurs because of the new Windows File Protection (WFP) feature in Windows 2000. For additional information on Service Pack 1, click the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
Q256340 Description of Internet Explorer 5.5 Setup on Windows 2000

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, installing Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 will upgrade your computer to 128-bit encryption.
If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), installing Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 will not change the current level of encryption on your computer.
