For example, when I go to hotmail and type in my password, it says Cannot find server or DNS Error. this happens when i try to get into any secured area of a site. i read somewhere that i have to set my proxy server. i have no idea how to do that or where to find that information. help!
thanks so much.

Tools/internet options/Connections/Lan Settings/

In Proxy server you will probably have one marked (as your regular http works) Click advanced and tick the box where it says (Use the same proxy server for all protocols)

This should work...

If you are using a dial up connection, then instead of Lan settings, select the dial up config you are using, click in settings, and folow the same procedure.

Cheers!
Marcos.
