IE5.5 and Java plug-in

I have a little problem with the Java environment in Internet Explorer 5.5.
I want to use the features of Java 2, but the jvm installed on IE only supports the java 1.1.4 features.
How can I upgrade this, since the Java plug-in configuration in the config panel does nothing on IE.

You can not upgrade...is a big issue..cuz even if u request the plugin...its 5Mb and its a big overhead...that ppl would not bother with your applet..
Best choice is to find components(AWT) which emulate what you want to do in JFC.
