IE will not resolve local Intranet but Firefox does. 1

Hi, we are having a problem with IE.
If you put the IP address in the Browser it works
If you put the host name it does not work.

In Firefox everything works fine no problems with the Host name.

DNS is fine, Pings Fine by name, NSLOOKUP is fine...

I think it may be a problem with 2003 R2 being the WebServer since we have another site on 2003 Normal and we are getting no problems, but just wanted to put this out there since I can't understand why everything works greate with Firefox...and yes - Company policy is IE...so I can deploy Firefox

Anybody have any issues resolving names in IE...I have seen posts out there but no real answers

Check your browser settings to make sure that your IE proxy settings are the same as for Firefox.

It's quite normal for companies to roll out IE with proxy settings set but these don't automatically get set for Firefox if you install it later.

Hey Dan, thanks for the reply.

We don't use Proxy and the setting are clear, I am one of the Domain Admin here, we do have Group Policy's but nothing on the IE side.

Just wanted you to know I fixed the problem.

Within IE if you use an _ in DNS then this is not seen in IE.

For example we had

http://intranet_test

and that does not work (We only used that to build the Test Intranet since we already have one)

Just wanted to let you know since Firefox ignores the _ and it works.
