I have a win xp pro system that has the newest IE that has all the sudden stopped browsing the internet after the first page - just sits forever with no error. I can login with another profile and the internet can be browsed just fine.

Have used spybot, antivirus, adaware, spywareblaster, cleared cookies, temp files, internet files and re-moved and re-installed IE twice to no resolution.

Any ideas? Hate to remove profile as there would be a lot to set back up and would never look the same.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

It is hard to think past a profile problem and solution.

You could compare the Internet Options / Advanced settings between profiles that work and the possibly corrupt profile.

In particular look at this check box -

Try running temporarily with the third box "Enable Third Party Browser Extensions" unchecked and see how this goes.

"This specifies that you want to disable features you installed for use with Internet Explorer that may have been created by companies other than Microsoft.
If you encounter problems with Internet Explorer that you cannot resolve, you can use this option to help determine if third-party features are causing the problems without uninstalling the feature. You must restart Internet Explorer after turning this option on or off."

If that stops your errors, you will know where the trouble is.

If you have to repair the profile maybe you could use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, manually adjusting it to ignore any IE settings?

I've had this trouble and found a simple solution - I now use Mozilla Firefox. Piece of cake to download from mozilla site - , and it's free. It's also much more secure, and has no bugs, unlike Internet Explorer.
Firefox doesn't interfere with any computer settings and you can still use Explorer if you want to
I suggest you give Firefox a try. You won't be disappointed.
