I have a need to run a web app in IE6, on a Win7/IE8 machine. I have had success installing apps in XP mode and then creating shortcuts to them on the Win7 desktop. The IE6 shortcut is a different story. I can get the shortcut to work properly in the XP mode windows, but cannot figure out how to get that shortcut onto the Win desktop. Thoughts?

Thanks for any help!

I am not having any problem doing this.

However, I have removed several windows XP programs from the registry key in the XP mode registry which prevents them from being published to the Win7 desktop. I don't remember doing that for IE6, but possibly I did while allowing explorer to be published.

In the XP registry, check HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/Virtual Machine/VPCVAppExcludeList and make sure iexplore.exe is not in there. If so, delete it.

If you PIN the IE 6 Shortcut to the Start Menu and then Drag that Shortcut to the Desktop, does that work?

Jock, there is no iexplore.exe list in that key.

Linney, that does not work.

Thanks to both of you for the help.
