Hi all,

A strange thing is happening. WHen I search yahoo, google and click on urls, 9/10 times I get redirected to morwillsearch.com or some other crap. Any idea where the culprit lies on my pc? Some sort of crap sitting around and its annoying. I dont have this problem in firefox.

thanks

Hi

Probably your browser is infected. Check your computer for malicious softwares with some antivirus, spyware and/or adware removal tool. The first one could be Ad-aware. Is freely available :

[ignore][flame]
Why not use FireFox if you already have it installed ?
[/flame][/ignore]

Feherke.

yea i have run those tools, no help. i use both browsers

Hi

Not mentioned that before. Neighter if you have a firewall. If not, try to install one, for example ZoneAlarm, then repeat the hunt.

By the way, what means no help ? No problem found, or found but not fixed ?

Feherke.

Since it's happening across two browsers, I would look a little deeper. Check out your HOSTS file and see if there any entries in there that point to morwillsearch.com or the IP address for this fake spam search engine.

Cheers,
Jeff

haha sorry, no help meant, the tools didnt benefit me.

thanks, ill try zonealram

Gotcha... I was thrown by the comment "I use both browsers" and somehow got convinced it was showing up in both :)

The problem is definately out there... I've read about that particular search site before. So there is definately a problem if you can't use those tools to rid yourself of it.

I guess there is always the tried and tested "reinstall Windows" option *lol*

Do you have a 3rd toolbar installed in IE maybe?

Cheers,
Jeff

Hi

justride said:
i will try zonealarm now
Do not expect too much. ZoneAlarm is for prevention. While your machine is already infected, it can not help you with that. It will only stop new infections and will hold installed spywares to send out collected data to their master.

Feherke.

Looks like adaware has done most of the work, but you'd probably want to get rid of this little fella right here:
