I have a machine which keeps changing its default home URL to a local html file that has been put on the machine whilst online without permission.

Having inspected the code in notepad it has something to do with a site called PrivacyOutpost.com.

Has anyone got any idea how to remove this? I've already tried Ad-Aware.

Thanks

Neil

What you may have is Trojan.ByteVerify. I used spybotS&D, CWShreader, Spyhunter and Norton.

They did not work until I updated my Norton.

Consider updating Norton and trying again.

I also heard that some people have used HyjackThis.

Best wishes - cmeltona
