I have a great problem. This one has had me stumped for a few months.
OS: Windows XP SP2 (latest patches)
RAM: 1-2GB depending on machine
BIOS: Lastest from vendor
Browser Version: IE6 SP1 & IE7 (fully patched)
Basically this is what happens. IE will randomly freeze. There are no steps that I can take to reproduce the issue. There are no apparent triggers. When IE freezes the only way to unfreeze it is to open up a new browser window or switch out of IE and then back into IE.
Nothing glaring shows up with Procmon and it is next to impossible to simulate a freeze and then look at the stack via process explorer.
It only happens with a particular batch of machines. I have restored to factory defaults and the browser still freezes. I am sure it is something wrong from the factory, but I am having one heck of a time of reproducing it and subsequently solving it.
The event logs are blank as well.
Any ideas?
