Every time i am on the internet, the internet just freezes, and then I have to try and reload it all the time - it takes ages.

Also, when i dial up onto the internet - sometimes, the IE6 browser does not even load up! It just freezes.

I want to solve this problem, and never ever have this problem again.

I have enough system resources. There is not much running on the system. I have checked each one on my task list - and all of them are known not to cause any crashes etc.

I have even "repaired" IE6 on the add/remove" icon on the control panel, but it still does not solve the problem

so, what is the problem?

Thank you very much

Do you receive any error message whatsoever? If so, post the content.

No error messages, Nothing - just a frozen screen of IE.

Have you run a good sweep of your system for spyware?
Using SpyBot ( or AdAware 6.0 (Just trying to get the easy stuff out of the way first.
Also, did this start after a recent install/uninstall of anything?
Are you running Norton? Zone Alarm? Are you on dial-up or other?

Thanks. I will try them later on tonight. I am not on my computer - I am in the workplace!

I'll let you know later on/tommrow the results.

I will try the spyware stuff tonight
I am running nortons systemworks, and firewall
Zone alarm - No
I am on dial-up.
I think the problem might lie in, after I have installed a game, or a sound card. Do you think i should uninstall the game and see what happens?

thanks a lot

Thanks

Yes, I'd try pulling the game off and seeing what happens, just as a precaution.
Also, if you're not running IE 6.0, Sp1, download it and install.
Post back and let us know how it worked out...we'll try something else if no joy.

hi!

I have downloaded IE sp1

the internet seems to work better now! At last. BUT i think i still need to carry on testing it.

I'll let you know if it starts crashing!

thanks a lot

I have been having a similar problem--IE and Windows Explorer just close down--don't know why. I have tried everything I can think of to remedy the situation. Any other suggestions?

Carr, I just wanted to thank you for the post you listed, because I downloaded Ad-aware and it found 57 objects, on was this
