On my PC my Internet Explorer has some bizarre configuration. In the title bar it says Mindspring Internet Explorer, and this Mindspring crap always pops up windows when I'm on the internet. I tried uninstalling Mindspring and deleting the mindspring folder in Program Files. That didn't det rid of the problem, nor did upgrading IE. Is there any way to completely uninstall IE so I can start fresh, or at least get rid of this damn Mindspring mod?
Thanks in advance
Joe

Well, I can help you with the "Mindspring Internet Explorer", but I can only guess on the pop up windows from Mindspring - try calling Mindspring tech support - they may know how to "uninstall" this nuisance.

open regedit
browse to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Forgot what the Key name was, but look for Mindspring, and either delete the key, or just delete the data from the key.

Good luck!

Better plan: Get the Norton Utilities suite. In there is a utility that will search for registry keys for programs that no longer exist. This will end the mindspring popups. I used to have MechWarrior 3, then I beat it and got bored, but even after uninstall, even though I had used the modem registration, it pop up and ask me to register if I rebooted after a crash. Norton fixed that. Also contains the BEST disk defragmenter and a utility for properly and securely wiping your data (DoD standard 5220.22-M) so that no one will ever be able to recover the data. Even with a magnetic scanner. Cool stuph.
