When I try and execute an application (via a .exe file), from within Internet Explorer, a window pops up indicating that I have chosen to download that executeable. The pop-up asks whether I want to run this program or save it to disk? If I choose the "run" option, it runs the application successfully.
In other words, if I specify, C:\xxxxx.exe, in the URL, it brings up this "File Download" screen. It does this for all executables I put in there. The "Always ask before opening this type of file", check box is selected and grayed out, so that I can't change it.
Is there some Internet Explorer option that can be set, so that it doesn't pop up this File Download screen, and would instead just execute the application (xxxxx.exe). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
